THE 34th SYMPOSIUM OF THE MALAYSIAN SOCIETY FOR MICROBIOLOGY 2018

The 34th Symposium of the Malaysian Society for Microbiology 2018 (MSM2018) was jointly organised by the MSM and Universiti Sains Malaysia together with other partner organisations (UKM, UM, UPM, UMT, UTM, UNMC, UNIMAS, MARDI, NM, ASM, MSLAB).

The theme for the meeting was "Microbial Revolution: Breaking Boundaries". The theme clearly portrays how the miniscule organisms have had a major impact on community and has continuously been breaking boundaries, expanding microbial science with the overarching agenda of improving the quality of life for humankind worldwide.

The MSM2018 was held from 7 to 10 December 2018 at the Gurney Resort Hotel and Residences, situated conveniently in Georgetown, the bustling commercial center of Penang Island. The symposium was officiated by YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Farhan Sadullah, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Universiti Sains Malaysia and attended by 116 participants. As with previous years, the Symposium highlighted pertinent issues of global interest, while refining and nuancing these interests to local context. A total of 14 Keynote and Plenary lectures, 24 oral, and 64 posters presentations were delivered at the symposium.
